Sophie Murphy Byrne

Project Assistant

Prior to joining NOVE, Sophie undertook a Schuman traineeship within the European Parliament’s DG for External Policies of the Union, focusing on EU-Southeast Asia trade relations and Brexit.

She was elected General Coordinator of the Schuman Trainees’ Committee during this time. She also completed an internship with an EU policy-monitoring service where she focused on Food & Drink policy. Sophie holds a Master’s Degree in European Studies from l’Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), where she wrote her Master thesis on the humanitarian visas debate in the EU. She also holds a Bachelor Degree in Politics and International Relations from University College Dublin, and studied abroad at Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada.
