The European Commission has published its proposal for a Data Act. The proposed Regulation aims to clarify who can access and share industrial data, and on what terms. The proposal also sets out interoperability requirements, among others, to make it easier for companies to switch between cloud and other data processing services.

The Act builds on creating a new legal, economic and technical framework that will make more data available for re-use. The European Commission expects it to add €270 billion to the EU economy by 2028.
